Frequently Asked Questions
Things we get asked a lot
Absolutely. Having a parent, carer, or support worker sit in the back is a fantastic way for them to see what we are practicing so they can support you during home drives. You just need to notify me ahead of time. Please note that for safety, they are there as a silent observer to support you, and cannot interject or distract us during the lesson.
Your safety and peace of mind are the top priorities. The training vehicle is fully equipped with dual controls, meaning the instructor can step in with physical braking or steering intervention to prevent accidents before they happen.
In the unlikely event that damage does occur during a professional lesson, you are fully protected:
Comprehensive Insurance: The vehicle is covered by comprehensive instructor-specific insurance.
No Out-of-Pocket Costs: You will not be held financially liable for any damage to the training vehicle or third-party property, and you will not have to pay any insurance excess.
Note: This protection applies specifically to accidental damage occurring under the instructor's direct guidance. Standard traffic infringements (like speeding or red-light cameras) remain the responsibility of the driver.
As the person behind the wheel, you are legally responsible for controlling the vehicle. If you exceed the speed limit, you are liable for any traffic infringements, fines, or demerit points incurred during the lesson.
However, remember that you are in a safe, supportive learning environment:
Constant Guidance: I monitor the road and speed limits constantly to help you stay on track and will give you plenty of warning if your speed begins to drift.
Dual Controls: In situations where it is necessary for safety, I can use the dual controls to manage the vehicle’s speed.
If a speeding fine or camera infringement is issued during a lesson, the fine cannot be absorbed by the business. The legal liability will be transferred to the driver in control of the vehicle at that time through the completion of a Statutory Declaration.
Feeling nervous or overwhelmed is a completely normal part of learning to drive. Your comfort, mental well-being, and safety are the absolute top priorities, and you are in a calm, judgment-free zone.
If things get too stressful during a drive, here is how we handle it:
Just Let Me Know: All you need to do is communicate how you are feeling. However, due to my professional background, I am deeply attuned to subtle signs of discomfort and will often step in to support you before you even have to ask.
No Pressure: We can pull over safely at any time to take a breather, have a chat, or get a drink of water. Every lesson is tailored to your confidence levels, and we can instantly pivot the plan to focus on something more comfortable.
Dual Controls & Safety: Because the car is fitted with dual controls, I can manage the vehicle's braking or steering if you ever feel unable to handle a specific situation.
Worst-Case Scenario: If it all becomes too much and you simply don't want to drive anymore, that is completely fine. We can easily swap seats, and I will take over the driving to get us back safely.
We take things entirely at your pace—one step at a time!
Completing your hours is a huge milestone, but passing your provisional test depends on your actual competency, not just the number on your logbook. Every learner is completely different—some people are naturally ready to pass their test after just a few hours of professional guidance, while others might require double the standard hours to feel truly safe and comfortable behind the wheel.
Our goal is to ensure you are genuinely ready to drive independently rather than just passing a test. Using our progress-tracking app, we monitor your skill mastery in real time and use focused 1-hour sessions to run realistic practice tests. I will always give you honest, transparent feedback so you can book your test with total confidence.
Don’t worry at all—you won't have to rely on memory alone! After every drive, your lesson details, feedback, and custom goals are logged directly into our progress-tracking app. You will have full access to this information between sessions, making it incredibly easy to review what we covered and see exactly what skills you are working on next.
This tracking app also includes a dedicated Parent/Guardian profile. If you are doing private practice at home with a supervisor, they can log in to see exactly what we practiced, ensuring you are both on the same page and working on the right skills before your next professional lesson.
Yes, absolutely. With your permission, I am more than happy to communicate directly with your employment services coach, case manager, or support worker. To do this, you will just need to complete a quick third-party consent form allowing me to share your training details with them.
Having previously worked as an Employment Coach and Team Leader within the workforce sector, I deeply understand how these programs operate, including funding approval processes and job plan compliance. Once the form is sorted, I can easily provide your coach with the necessary progress updates, lesson feedback, or invoicing details to keep your licensing journey moving forward smoothly.
It is completely normal to feel intimidated by the thought of angry drivers, but in my experience, actual road rage incidents are incredibly rare. The vast majority of people understand that everyone has an equal right to be on the road, and seeing an "L" plate usually triggers their patience. We will keep things strictly to quiet streets until you feel ready—no throwing you into the chaotic deep end on day one!
If we do cross paths with an impatient driver who clearly missed their morning coffee, don't panic—I’ve got your back. I am constantly scanning the traffic, and I will handle the situation for you, guiding you smoothly on how to safely de-escalate the moment and keep us out of harm's way. Best of all, I’ll teach you how to handle these situations independently for the future, so you can keep your cool and stay safe when you're driving on your own.
Life happens, personal crises pop up, and sometimes your headspace just isn’t right for a drive—I completely get it. If you need to alter your appointment, you can easily cancel or reschedule your session directly through our booking app. Any cancellations made outside of the 24-hour notice window are fully eligible for a refund.
Because I know unexpected emergencies happen, every student gets a one-off grace reschedule. This means your very first cancellation or reschedule within that 24-hour window will not incur any late fees. However, because that spot cannot be filled at short notice, any subsequent late changes or cancellations within 24 hours will result in the full lesson fee being charged.
